Find YouTube outliers in seconds
An outlier is a video getting far more views than its channel normally does. They're the clearest signal of a topic or title people want right now.
What is a YouTube outlier?
If a channel's videos usually get 20,000 views and one gets 400,000, that video is a 20x outlier. Outliers show you ideas that worked beyond the channel's usual audience, which makes them some of the best inspiration for your own videos.
How VidLyft finds them
VidLyft compares every video's views with the channel's typical views and shows an outlier score on each video card: green for 1.5x and up, orange for 3x and up, red for 10x and up. It works on the home page, search results, channel pages and Shorts.
Filter a whole page by outliers
Search your niche, click Filters next to the YouTube logo and choose “Outliers” or “Hidden gems” (outliers from smaller channels). Export the list to CSV to plan your next videos.

Questions
- Does finding outliers cost anything?
- No. Outlier scores and Filters are part of VidLyft's free plan.
- What should I do with an outlier?
- Study why it worked: the topic, the title, the thumbnail and how fast it's growing (views per hour). Then make your own take on the idea for your audience.
